Eye Surgery Co-Management

Eye Surgery Co-Management

If you have to undergo eye surgery, it is important that you understand how to care for your eyes once the procedure has been completed. Here at First Eye Care, we believe in taking a collaborative approach to eye surgeries, meaning we will work with you and your family members to ensure you know what the next steps are. Some of the most common surgeries offered by First Eye Care that will require management include:

  • Cataract Surgery
  • Laser Vision Correction
  • Retina Repair Therapy
  • Glaucoma Therapy
  • Lid Surgery
  • Eye Muscle Surgery

While many of us are able to correct vision problems by wearing eyeglasses or contacts, surgery is oftentimes the only answer. In fact, eye surgery options have displaced both glasses and contacts as the only solutions for healthy eyes and vision. This is due to numerous factors, including advanced technologies that have made it possible for us to restore vision to people. Over the last 20 years, surgical techniques and tools have evolved, providing us with procedures that are both safe and beneficial. Today’s corrective surgeries for eyes often use lasers to reshape the cornea, or insert artificial lenses to change how the light enters the eye.

Why Proper Eye Surgery Management Matters

Two of the most common surgeries we perform that require management are laser vision correction and cataract surgery. When you come into First Eye Care for one of these surgeries, or for another surgery, we will start by evaluating your eyes and discussing what you can expect from surgery. At this time, we will look at your eye history and refractive stability, perform a medical evaluation of the cornea and eye, and discuss what to expect before, during, and after.

It is our goal to ensure you feel comfortable with the type of surgery you are about to undergo as well as the recovery. In many cases, you will need a family member or loved one to help care for you, as your vision will be impacted for several hours or even days.

We understand how intimidating coming in for eye surgery of any kind can be, which is why we will meet with you several times beforehand. We have two convenient locations in Downtown Dallas and Irving, Texas.
